What To Look For

6 signs your roof took a hit.

Most hail damage doesn't show up from the ground. Here's what we find when we get on the roof.

Bruised or dented shingles

Soft impact marks where the granules got knocked off. Easy to miss from the driveway, obvious on the roof.

Granules collecting in the gutters

After a hailstorm, the gutters fill up with the asphalt grit that used to protect your shingles.

Cracked vents, flashing & skylights

Metal vents and turbine caps dent fast. Skylight glass spider-cracks. All of it's claimable.

Exposed asphalt mat

Where hail tore the top layer off, the black fiberglass underneath is now baking in the Texas sun.

Soft spots underfoot

A bruised shingle feels like a ripe peach when you press it. We test every plane of the roof.

Ceiling stains weeks later

A small hail hit can take weeks to leak. By the time the brown stain shows up, the decking is already wet.

"After the May hailstorm our roof was a mess and the insurance side was confusing. JC walked the roof with the State Farm adjuster, documented everything, and we ended up with a full replacement for our deductible. Crew was on and off in two days. Easy 5 stars."

FAQ

Hail claims, straight answers.

Will my insurance cover a full roof replacement?
If your roof has functional hail damage across multiple slopes, most North Texas carriers will approve a full replacement — that's the most common outcome on the claims we work. We document the damage on every plane of the roof and present it in a format adjusters are used to reviewing, which is the single biggest factor in getting a full approval rather than a partial repair.
How do I know if my roof has hail damage?
Most hail damage isn't visible from the ground. Common ground-level clues are dented gutter aprons, dimples on the AC fins, and granules pooling at the base of downspouts. The only way to be sure is to have someone walk the roof. Our hail inspection is free — we'll tell you straight whether it's worth opening a claim.
How long after a storm do I have to file a hail claim?
In Texas, most homeowners policies give you one year from the date of loss to file a claim. The sooner the better, though — the longer hail damage sits open to the sun, the more it spreads, and the easier it is for an adjuster to argue the damage was 'cosmetic' or pre-existing.
Will my homeowners premium go up if I file a hail claim?
Hail is a weather-related (act of God) claim, and Texas insurance rules limit how much carriers can raise premiums for those vs. a fault-based claim. It's not zero risk — but it's a very different exposure than filing for, say, a kitchen fire. Talk to your agent for the specifics of your policy.
What if my insurance only approves a partial repair?
We see this a lot, especially on first inspections. We'll re-inspect the roof, document the missed damage, and help you file a supplement or request a re-inspection with a different adjuster. Most of our partial-approval claims end up as full replacements after the supplement.
Do you work with my insurance company?
Yes — we work with every major carrier serving North Texas, including State Farm, Allstate, USAA, Farmers, Liberty Mutual, Travelers, Progressive, Nationwide, and the regional carriers. We've been doing this for 30 years; the process is the same on our end no matter who underwrites the policy.
Do I pay anything besides my deductible?
On a standard replacement-cost-value policy, no — your deductible is your out of pocket, full stop. If you have an actual-cash-value policy or you've chosen upgrades the carrier doesn't cover (different shingle color isn't an upgrade — but going from a 3-tab to a Class 4 impact-rated architectural is), we'll spell that out in writing before any work starts.
